Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room located at 1425 Portland Avenue, Rochester, NY 14621. The role requires 40 hours per week with rotating shifts: 7a-3:30p, 3p-11:30p, 11p-7:30a, plus two weekend shifts per month and on-call on Saturdays and Sundays.

The position emphasizes sterile technique and instrument management throughout procedures. The incumbent will prepare, organize, and manage surgical instruments and supplies, maintain the sterile

Qualifications

• Maintain continuing medical education (CME) hours annually.
• Prepare and check instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Set up and maintain sterile field using aseptic technique.
• Assist with patient draping and ensure proper attire of the surgical team.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during procedures.
• Perform sponge and sharp counts with the circulating nurse.
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization.
• Support specialty services and stock OR rooms as needed.
• Prepare sterile dressings and assist with post-op care.
• Help orient new staff and support unit goals.

Responsibilities

• The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role as the primary scrub technologist during procedures.
• Maintain sterile field and adhere to sterile technique throughout procedures.
