Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operating room teams during a range of procedures. The role requires novice to competent skills, assists the surgeon, sponges, suction, cuts sutures, and maintains sterile technique.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma and a certified surgical technology program; certification CST/CSA/TS-C and BLS; on-site shift 7A-3P; non-exempt status. This position emphasizes safety, teamwork and adherence to hospital policy.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency.
• Certification CST or CSA or TS-C and BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in prepping room, equipment and supplies for planned procedures.
• Support the surgeon during surgical procedures as the surgical tech.
• Assist the circulating RN with sponge, instrument, needle and other surgical counts.
• Accurately communicates updates for surgeon preference cards.
