Qualifications

• Experience with sterile field setup and instrument handling.
• Ability to assist physicians during procedures and anticipate needs.
• Strong adherence to safety and patient care standards.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of applying surgical gloves using aseptic technique and maintaining a sterile field.
• Demonstrates knowledge of preparing for surgery by pulling appropriate supplies and instruments.
• Understands and recognizes different surgical instruments and their applications.
• Displays appropriate knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology to assist in procedures.
• Maintains a safe sterile field and participates in a timeout for patient safety.
• Counts supplies and instruments to ensure no foreign object remains in the patient.
• Assists physician during procedures with competency and procedural knowledge.
• Differentiates sutures and their applications.
• Follows through to address issues and initiates corrective actions.
• Demonstrates teamwork in perioperative care.
• Participates in department process improvement activities.
