Job summary

Adventist Health Glendale, nestled between Burbank and Pasadena, seeks a Surgical Technician to assist the operating room team. You will prepare cases, maintain a sterile field and coordinate supplies to improve utilization and reduce turnaround times for level I–III cases.

The ideal candidate has a high school education (associate degree preferred), two years of technical experience preferred, and CPR/BLS certification. CST is required; CNA is preferred as a supporting credential.

Qualifications

• Surgery Technician certification: Preferred
• CPR certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
• BLS certification from AH policy: Required
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST): Required

Responsibilities

• Prepares for each surgical case by accurately checking required supplies and equipment prior to case.
• Assembles appropriate supplies/equipment prior to operative procedures and sets up sterile field.
• Reviews equipment inventory for specialty as assigned and sets up instrumentation for expedient retrieval.
• Collects data on assigned surgical cases with unit performance standards.
• Transports patients according to unit schedules and priorities and provides clerical duties.
• Completes instrument, sponge, needle and blade counts with the RN per standards.

Education

High School Education/GED or equivalent

Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience

Two years' technical experience
