Job summary

University of Kansas Medical Center in Olathe, KS, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Nurse Manager.

You will prepare the OR, assist in surgery, maintain a sterile field, hand instruments, perform counts with the RN circulator, and ensure patient safety during procedures. BLS certification is required; OR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate or Associate’s Surgical Tech degree OR 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room for surgical procedures and ensures equipment is functioning safely.
• Provides surgical assistance and maintains the sterile operating field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon and assists with counts and specimen handling.
• Maintains sterility and safety throughout procedures and supports the surgical team as needed.
• Collaborates with the RN circulator to ensure patient safety and proper procedure execution.
