Job summary

Nantucket Cottage Hospital seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist to join the perioperative team on Nantucket Island. The successful candidate will collaborate with the RN circulator and surgeon to ensure safe, efficient patient care during procedures.

The role requires an Associate degree in Surgical Technology or equivalent, CST credential, BLS/CPR within one week of hire, and at least one year of OR experience is preferred. Opportunities for professional development are available on site.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Surgical Technology or equivalent program completed.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential required or obtained within 12 months of hire.
• BLS/CPR certification within one week of hire; AHA/ARC accepted.
• Professional development certification preferred.
• Surgical Technologist Certification required for SEIU Grade 13.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to scope of practice as a Surgical Technologist.
• Maintains a safe operating room environment per policy and regulatory standards.
• Adheres to infection prevention and standard precautions for blood/body fluids (OSHA).
• Maintains sterile field and aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Prepares and uses surgical supplies and equipment for procedures.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and manages instruments and supplies.
• Participates in surgical time outs and debriefings.
• Assists with specimen collection, labeling, and transportation.
