Job summary

One Brooklyn Health System Inc. is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team.

The role involves preparing sterile instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and supporting surgeons and staff throughout pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases. The candidate should have a graduate degree in surgical technology with at least 1 year perioperative experience; Armed Forces-trained technicians with 5 years experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of surgical technology or equivalent training.
• Minimum one (1) year perioperative experience; five (5) years if trained via Armed Forces preferred.
• Knowledge of a variety of surgical procedures and sterile technique.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
• Assists with planning and preparing sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
• Maintains sterile field and supports scrub duties during surgery.
• Conducts pre-incision Time Out and post-procedure Sign Out.
• Assists with specimen labeling and handling; ensures accurate medication labeling on the field.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for decontamination and works with the team for room turnover.
