Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech to support the safe execution of surgical procedures in our operating suite. The role emphasizes patient-first care and is integral to our team’s success in providing excellent healthcare.

Responsibilities include preparing the OR, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring the accurate handling of instruments and specimens. CST certification within 12 months and BLS are required for hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire.
• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery and tracks instruments and supplies.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory when required.
