Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Illinois is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech to support surgical teams in the operating room. The role requires graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program and CST certification within twelve months of hire.

You will prepare the operating suite, assist with patient positioning, pass instruments, and help process specimens, while adhering to safety standards and the organization’s policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire.
• CPR – Basic Life Support required.
• Physical Demands: lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies; ensures availability and functionality of equipment.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery; continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies.
• Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.

The Certified Surgical Tech facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
