Job summary

Edina Plastic Surgery in Edina, MN is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join a collaborative operating room team. This full-time position supports safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care.

Responsibilities include preparing the OR, maintaining the sterile field, assisting surgeons and circulating staff, handling instrumentation, and ensuring patient safety throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited program.
• Certification as Surgical Technologist, or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain before independently performing assigned patient-care responsibilities.
• Understands sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, operating room safety, and infection prevention practices.
• Able to learn and safely perform first‑assisting, suturing, and circulating responsibilities within approved scope.
• Able to work effectively with patients, families, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and team members in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and follow‑through.
• Commitment to continuing education, in-services, and certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room, equipment, implants, medications, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
• Review schedule and preference cards to confirm readiness and identify special equipment needs.
• Assist with room turnover and ensure OR is cleaned and restocked between cases.
• Verify equipment is present, functional, and properly positioned before procedures.
• Participate in safety processes including patient identification and time-out.
• Provide instruments and supplies promptly as needed during procedures.
• Assist with dressings, specimen handling, counts, and intraoperative tasks.
• Maintain sterile field and follow infection prevention standards.
• Decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and stock instruments; monitor inventory.
