Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ is seeking a day shift, full-time Surgical Technician to join our operating room team. You will support the surgeon in the sterile field, perform scrub duties, prep supplies, and assist circulating RNs while adhering to AORN standards and hospital policies.

Ideal candidates hold CST or NCCT certification, complete 15 hours of CE annually, and have BLS certification within two weeks of hire.

Qualifications

• CST or NCCT certification is required.
• 15 hours of continuing education annually to remain qualified as a surgical technologist in NJ.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer.

Responsabilités

• Assist the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice.
• Perform scrub duties for varied specialties/procedures.
• Ensure the case has sterile supplies and equipment for the surgeon and procedure.
• Assist with circulating duties under the direct supervision of the RN circulator.
• Adhere to hospital, state, and departmental policies.

Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech:

• The Certified Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice Recommendations.
• Performs scrub duties in varied specialties/procedures.
• Ensures that the case has the necessary sterile supplies and equipment for that surgeon and procedure.
• Assists with circulating duties under the direct supervision of the RN circulator assigned to the patient.
• Ensure adherence to Hospital, State, and departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT – Certification.
• Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in the State of NJ.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• High School or GED equivalent.
• Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program.
• Minimum of one (1) year as a Certified Surgical Technologist.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
