Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ, is seeking a day shift, full-time Surgical Technician to support the operating room team. The role involves assisting surgeons in the sterile field, scrubbing across specialties, and ensuring all supplies and equipment are ready for procedures.

The successful candidate will have CST or NCCT certification, complete annual CE requirements, and hold a valid BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT certification required.
• Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in NJ.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• High School or GED equivalent.
• Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program.
• Minimum of one year as a CST.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice Recommendations.
• Performs scrub duties in varied specialties/procedures.
• Ensures the case has the necessary sterile supplies and equipment for that surgeon and procedure.
• Assist with circulating duties under the direct supervision of the RN circulator assigned to the patient.
• Ensure adherence to Hospital, State, and departmental policies and procedures.
