Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ is seeking a day shift, full-time Surgical Technician to join the OR team. The role supports the surgeon in the sterile field, performs scrub duties across procedures, and ensures availability of sterile supplies and equipment.

You will assist with circulating duties under the RN circulator, adhere to hospital policies, and maintain patient safety.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT certification required.
• Annual 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified in NJ.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer.

Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech:

• The Certified Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice Recommendations.
• Performs scrub duties in varied specialties/procedures.
• Ensures that the case has the necessary sterile supplies and equipment for that surgeon and procedure.
• Assists with circulating duties under the direct supervision of the RN circulator assigned to the patient.
• Ensure adherence to Hospital, State, and departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT – Certification.
• Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in the State of NJ.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• High School or GED equivalent.
• Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program.
• Minimum of one (1) year as a Certified Surgical Technologist.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
