Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and efficient care to the surgical patient under RN supervision and in collaboration with the surgeon.
• Function in the scrub role, selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
• Apply sterile and aseptic technique and adapt to unpredictable perioperative situations.
• Utilize knowledge of anatomy, surgical procedures, and instrumentation as a member of the surgical team.

Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist provides safe and efficient care to the surgical patient under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in collaboration with the surgeon. The Surgical Technologist functions primarily in the scrub role and is responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. The Surgical Technologist possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique and is able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting. The Surgical Technologist utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as member of the surgical team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program.

Additional Qualifications

• 1 year of surgical tech experience is preferred.

Certification/Licensure

• Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within one year of hire date and maintained thereafter.
• Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.

Surgical Technologists hired at the following locations prior to the identified dates, are not required to have a Surgical Technology certification through NBSTSA:

• Mayo Clinic in Arizona hires prior to 11/20/2024.

Days. Hours: 0645-1715 Monday - Friday: 4 x 10 hour shifts with day off TBD upon hire

Weekend Schedule

Weekends include call, which also includes holidays. Call is a requirement. All call requires a 30-minute response time. Call rooms are available to reserve through security as needed if the candidate lives outside the 30-minute window.
