Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Surgical Technologist to deliver safe, efficient perioperative care under RN supervision and in collaboration with the surgeon.

The role centers on the scrub duties: selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, supplies, and equipment while applying sterile technique and adapting to varying cases. BLS may be required; NBSTSA cert within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist provides safe and efficient care to the surgical patient under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in collaboration with the surgeon. The Surgical Technologist functions primarily in the scrub role and is responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. The Surgical Technologist possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique and is able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting. The Surgical Technologist utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as member of the surgical team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program.

Additional Qualifications

• 1 year of surgical tech experience is preferred.

Certification/Licensure

• Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within one year of hire date and maintained thereafter.
• Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.

Surgical Technologists hired at the following locations prior to the identified dates, are not required to have a Surgical Technology certification through NBSTSA:

• Mayo Clinic in Arizona hires prior to 11/20/2024.

Schedule Details

Days Hours: 0645-1915 3 x 12 hour shifts per week; Monday - Friday, with days off TBD upon hire.

Weekend Schedule

Weekends include call, which also includes holidays. Call requirement includes weekdays at the end of shift, weekends, and holidays. All call requires a 30-minute response time, and call rooms are available to reserve through security as needed if the candidate lives outside the 30-minute window.
