Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Phoenix is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our perioperative team. You will support the surgeon under RN supervision, prepare instrumentation, and maintain sterile technique to ensure safe patient care.

This role requires graduation from an accredited surgical technology program, NBSTSA certification within one year of hire, and a current BLS. Prior OR experience and familiarity with retina, sports medicine, ENT, or urology are a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program.
• NBSTSA certification required within one year of hire.
• Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers.
• Experience in Retina, Sports Med, ENT and Urology preferred.
• At least one year of operating room experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Surgical Technologist provides safe and efficient care to the surgical patient under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in collaboration with the surgeon.
• The Surgical Technologist functions primarily in the scrub role and is responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
• The Surgical Technologist possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique and is able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting.

Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique and is able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting. The Surgical Technologist utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as member of the surgical team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program.
• Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within one year of hire date and maintained thereafter.
• Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers through the AHA or Red Cross.
• Experience in Retina, Sports Med, ENT and Urology preferred.
• At least one year of operating room experience is preferred.

Surgical Technologists hired at the following locations prior to the identified dates, are not required to have a Surgical Technology certification through NBSTSA:

• Mayo Clinic in Arizona hires prior to 11/20/2024.

Licensure/Certification Required

• Current BLS certification required upon hire.
• Certification through NBSTSA required within one year of hire date.

Weekend Schedule

No weekend schedule, only call Including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. There is a 30-minute response time requirement; however, call rooms are available to reserve for candidates living outside of that window.
