Novant Health in Wilmington, NC seeks a Surgical Technologist to join the Operating Room team at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. The role supports patient care by assisting with sterile technique, instrument handling, and room readiness under supervision.

Eligible candidates have a high school diploma or GED and formal surgical technology training, with certification preferred. This full-time, days shift offers opportunities in a supportive surgical services environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program or completion of Military Training (68D) required.
• Surgical Technologist experience preferred.
• Current CST/TS-C/NRCST/SA-C certification preferred; state-specific SC requirement may apply.

Responsabilités

• Assist with patient care in compliance with policies and standards.
• Maintain clinical and professional surgical services competencies.
• Maintain medication security.
• Set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications for procedure.
• Perform counts per policy.
• Gown and glove surgeon and assistants.
• Pass instruments to surgeon and maintain sterile field.
• Prepare sterile dressings and instruments for sterilization.
• Help prepare room and cleanup after procedures.
• All other duties as assigned.

What You\'ll Do

• Assists with patient care while complying with Novant Health policies and procedures and regulatory standards.


• Maintains clinical and professional surgical services competencies.


• Assists in maintaining the security of medications.


• Practices effective interpersonal communication skills


• Under supervision and direction, checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves.


• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.


• Performs counts per Novant Health policy.


• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.


• Helps in draping sterile field. Passes instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure.


• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure.


• Prepares sterile dressings.


• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.


• Assists other members of team with cleaning of room.


• Assists in prepping room for the next patient.


• All other duties as assigned.

What We\'re Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D - Operating Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification please see additional skills required. Online Surgical Tech program credits will not be accepted.


• Experience: Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred.


• Licensure/Certification:Current Surgical Tech Certification (CST, TS-C, NRCST, or SA-C), preferred. Current Surgical Tech Certification - based on state specific regulations (South Carolina Region Only), required.


• Additional Skills (required):For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification the following additional requirements may apply: recommended for new graduates to obtain certification within 12 months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills.
