Job summary

Novant Health's Presbyterian Medical Center is seeking an Operating Room Surgical Tech Call Team member. You will prepare operating rooms, arrange sterile equipment, and assist doctors during surgeries to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

The role requires surgical tech experience and strong communication with the team. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, and training in a surgical technology program or military equivalent.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D).
• Current Surgical Tech Certification preferred.
• One year Surgical Technologist experience required.
• Certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire if not certified.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon and RN to facilitate safe, effective invasive procedures.
• Prepare operating rooms and arrange sterile equipment.
• Ensure sterile/aseptic technique and patient safety.
• Support physician during procedures with proper tools and technologies.

What You'll Do

The Surgical Technologist Call Team works under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification please see additional skills required. Online Surgical Tech program credits will not be accepted.
• Experience: One year previous Surgical Technologist experience, required.
• Licensure/Certification: Current Surgical Tech Certification, preferred.
• Additional Skills (required): For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification the following additional requirements apply: new graduates must obtain certification within 12months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills.
