Job summary

Responsibilities include collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and staff, following all safety policies, and contributing to patient care across ages while engaging in ongoing education and skills development.

Qualifications

• Education: high school graduate; completed an accredited surgical technologist program; CST certification.
• Licensure/registration: CST certification required; LPN license for grandfathered employees (VA).
• Must demonstrate knowledge of instrumentations and age-appropriate care.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a sterile field and ensure the team remains sterile.
• Safely passes instruments to the clinician during procedures.
• Participate in surgical counts (sponges, needles, instruments) per policy.
• Communicate with surgeons, gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, and staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and patient safety standards.
• Contribute to the nursing process for patients of all ages and participate in unit education.
