Job Description

Provides intraoperative care to patients by functioning as the scrub person assisting the surgical team during an operative procedure.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse AND two years of previous scrub experience, OR
• Completion of a Surgical Technology Program AND surgical technologist certification, OR
• Completion of summer surgical tech extern program AND surgical technologist certification.

Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of Surgical Technology experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge in desired specialty strongly preferred.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining sterile fields, perform sponge, instrument, and needle counts, assist with gowning, gloving, and positioning, pass sterile instruments, prepare supplies, sterilize equipment, monitor inventory, assist with cleaning and equipment checks, record patient charges, and serve as a mentor to team members.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing and walking.
• Lift up to 40 pounds and push/pull carts up to 200 lbs.
• Visual, hearing, oral acuity, manual dexterity, and technical ability.
• Ability to wear lead for extended periods.
