Job summary

Qualified candidates have a postsecondary certificate or equivalent training; 1–3 years of surgical technologist experience is preferred, with CST/TS-C certification within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Minimum one-year certificate from a college or technical school; or 3–6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred 1–3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
• Education/Credentials: Accredited Surgical Technologist program completion and certification (CST, TS-C) within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
• Uses aseptic technique and standard precautions; follows medication and specimen handling policies.
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to verify patient and site.
• Adapts to surgeon preference and patient care variables and helps update surgeon preference materials.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Cares for and utilizes resources to promote cost-effective and efficient environment for patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
