Job summary

Southcoast Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist I at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. The role supports the operating room team during procedures, maintains sterile technique, and prepares instruments and supplies.

A 24-hour shift with evening hours and weekend/holiday rotation is offered. Eligible candidates include graduates of an approved Surgical Technology program with CST certification eligibility within 12 months of graduation or within 6 months of hire, plus BLS

Qualifications

• Equivalence of 4 years of high school plus additional specialized courses or training is required.
• Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program is required.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist within 12 months of graduation or within 6 months of hire if applicable.
• Certification in Basic Life Support is required.
• One year of related work experience is preferred.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or eligible for an exemption with signed statement.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team during the intra-operative phase.
• Maintain aseptic, safe, and properly equipped surgical environment.
• Prepare the OR, supply and assemble instruments, and maintain sterile fields.
• Perform counts and hands-off instruments during procedures.
• May perform on-call duties as needed.

We are searching for a talented Surgical Technologist I

*$4,500 new hire sign-on bonus for this position. (rehires termed more than 1 year also eligible)*

Hours: 24hrs

Shift: Evening shift,3:00pm - 11:30pm with weekend and holiday rotation

**Available to regular status employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of 24 hours.

Position reports to the Manager or designee. Perform various duties including but not limited to: provide assistance to surgical team during the intra-operative phase, provide aseptic, safe, appropriately equipped and functional surgical environment. Responsible for OR preparation, instrument supply and assembly, maintenance of sterile fields, hands off instruments and initiation of counts throughout procedures. Perform Surgical Technologist duties including on-call duties as need or required.

• Equal to completion of 4 years of high school plus additional specialized courses or training is required.
• Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologist within 12 months of graduation from program or within 6 months of hire if greater than 12 months from graduation.
• Certification in Basic Life Support is required.
• One (1) year of related work experience is preferred.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
