Job summary

Southcoast Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Trauma Center at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. The role supports the surgical team during intra-operative procedures, maintains sterile fields, and ensures proper instrument handling and counts.

Night shifts run 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with rotating weekends and holidays. The position requires graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program, and a Certified Surgical Technologist credential within 12 months of graduation or

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus surgical tech training.
• Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential within 12 months of graduation or within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• One year of related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgical team during intra-operative phase.
• Prepare OR, maintain sterile fields, and ensure aseptic environment.
• Provide instrument supply and assembly; initiate counts.
• Hand off instruments to surgical team as needed.
• Support on-call duties as required.

We are searching for a talented Surgical Technologist-Trauma Center

*$6,000 new hire sign-on bonus for this position. (rehires termed more than 1 year also eligible)*

Hours: 24hrs

Shift: Night shift, 7:00pm - 7:00am Monday through Friday and rotating Saturday and Sunday either 7:00am - 7:00pm or 7:00pm - 7:00am with weekend and holiday rotation

Position Reports to the Manager, OR Service Group or designee. Perform various duties including but not limited to: provide assistance to surgical team during the intra-operative phase, provide aseptic, safe, appropriately equipped and functional surgical environment. Responsible for OR preparation, instrument supply and assembly, maintenance of sterile fields, hands off instruments and initiation of counts throughout procedures. Perform Surgical Technologist duties including on-call duties as need or required.

• Equal to completion of 4 years of high school plus additional specialized courses or training is required.
• Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologist within 12 months of graduation from program or within 6 months of hire if greater than 12 months from graduation.
• Certification in Basic Life Support is required.
• One (1) year of related work experience is preferred.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
