Job summary

The Surgical Technologist I role at MaineHealth in Portland, ME is responsible for preparing the operating room, instruments, equipment and supplies, and passing instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeons.

This is a full-time, day shift position with a $3,000 sign-on bonus for new grads.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology.
  • Certification by NBSTSA required within six months of start date or leadership discretion.
  • Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Pass instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeons.
  • Maintain sterile technique and safety standards in the OR.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to support patient care.

The Surgical Technologist I role at Maine Medical Center-Portland is involved in preparing the operating room and instruments, equipment and supplies as well as passing instruments, sponges, and sutures to surgeons.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology required.
  • License/Certifications: Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required within six months of start date or at the discretion of leadership for positions at MMC. Certification preferred at SMHC. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
  • Experience: Experience as a Surgical Technologist or a minimum of six months in a scrub role in the academic or clinical setting preferred.

The pay range for this position is $25.24to $34.16 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
