Job summary

Southcoast Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. You will support the surgical team during procedures, prepare the OR, maintain sterile fields, and handle instruments and counts to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• One year of related work experience preferred.
• Vaccination against influenza and COVID-19 or approved exemption.

Responsibilities

• Provide intra-operative assistance to the surgical team.
• Maintain sterile fields and aseptic technique during procedures.
• Prepare OR and instrument supply; manage instrument counts.
• Support on-call duties as needed; ensure patient safety and efficiency.

We are searching for a talented Surgical Technologist

*$7,500 new hire sign-on bonus for this position. (rehires termed more than 1 year also eligible)*

Hours: 40hrs

Shift: Day shift, 9:00am - 7:30pm with On Call rotation (weeknights, weekends and holiday)

Location: St. Luke's Hospital - New Bedford, MA

**Available to regular status employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of 24 hours.

Position reports to the Manager or designee. Perform various duties including but not limited to: provide assistance to surgical team during the intra-operative phase, provide aseptic, safe, appropriately equipped and functional surgical environment. Responsible for OR preparation, instrument supply and assembly, maintenance of sterile fields, hands off instruments and initiation of counts throughout procedures. Perform Surgical Technologist duties including on-call duties as need or required.

• Equal to completion of 4 years of high school plus additional specialized courses or training is required.
• Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologist within 12 months of graduation from program or within 6 months of hire if greater than 12 months from graduation.
• Certification in Basic Life Support is required.
• One (1) year of related work experience is preferred.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
