St. Joseph Hospital, part of Catholic Health in Bethpage, NY, seeks a Surgical Technician to support intraoperative care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role emphasizes patient safety, aseptic technique, and teamwork across the OR.

Formación

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technician program required.
• New York State Surgical Technician Certification through NBSTSA required.
• On-call rotation required.
• BLS from American Heart Association required.
• Prior surgical technician experience preferred.
• Computer literacy and basic English literacy required.

Responsabilidades

• Assists the RN in planning patient care by selecting supplies and equipment.
• Checks instrumentation and equipment are in working order.
• Maintains aseptic technique throughout setup and surgical intervention.
• Anticipates surgeons' needs during intraoperative phase.
• Maintains patient safety by following fire prevention strategies and safe medication handling.
• Communicates equipment issues to appropriate personnel (CSS, Materials Manager, AHN, Director).
• Performs counts according to hospital policy and initiates corrective actions.
• Safely handles and disposes of biohazardous material.
• Active participation in room turnover between cases.
