Job summary

St. Joseph Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, is seeking a Surgical Technician to support intraoperative care under an RN. You will help prepare supplies, maintain aseptic technique, and anticipate surgeons' needs during procedures.

Requirements include NY NBSTSA certification, a high school diploma, BLS, and computer literacy. On-call rotation is required; prior surgical technician experience is preferred. Benefits include a generous pension plan and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required by American Heart Association.
• New York State Surgical Technician Certification (NBSTSA) required.
• Computer literacy required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the RN in planning patient care by selecting supplies and equipment for cases.
• Checks that instrumentation and equipment are in working order.
• Maintains aseptic technique throughout setup and intervention.
• Anticipates surgeons' needs during intraoperative phase.
• Communicates equipment/instrument issues to appropriate personnel.
