Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Completion of accredited surgical technician program required.
• New York State Surgical Technician Certification through the NBSTSA required.
• On-call rotation required.
• BLS from American Heart Association required.
• Prior surgical technician experience preferred.
• Must be computer-literate. Must be able to read and write basic English.

Responsibilities

• Assists the RN in planning patient care by appropriately selecting supplies and equipment needed.
• Maintains aseptic technique throughout set up and surgical intervention.
• Anticipates surgeons' needs during intraoperative phase.
• Maintains patient safety by adhering to fire prevention strategies.
• Actively participates in room turnover between cases.
