Job summary

IHA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our team at multiple locations in Grand Rapids and Muskegon. The role involves assisting surgeons by organizing and passing instruments, maintaining aseptic technique, and supporting operative procedures across shifts including days, evenings, or nights.

The ideal candidate has completed an accredited Surgical Technologist Program, will obtain certification within a year, and maintain it thereafter.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program is required.
• Certification must be obtained within one year of employment.
• Maintain certification throughout employment.
• Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.
• Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups from diverse perspectives.
• Commitment to organization’s philosophy, values, mission, and vision.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to surgeons by selecting, organizing, and passing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment under the surgeon's direction.
• Maintains aseptic technique throughout operative procedures and ensures proper attire, scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and traffic control.
• Identifies breaches in aseptic technique and implements corrective actions.
• Performs reprocessing activities including decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, and documentation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
