FlexStaff is seeking a Surgical Technologist for our client's team of dedicated professionals working collaboratively in a state-of-the-art environment to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality in all surgical procedures. We are currently seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our surgical team.



Job Description:


As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in supporting surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile environments, and assisting the surgical team to deliver high-quality patient care. Your expertise will contribute to the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, significantly impacting patient outcomes.



Responsibilities:


  1. Prepare the operating room and sterile field for surgical procedures by setting up supplies, instruments, and equipment using sterile techniques.
  2. Assist healthcare professionals in receiving, labeling, and verifying sterile solutions and medications, supporting anesthesia personnel as needed.
  3. Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure prior to surgery.
  4. Assist in moving and positioning patients for surgery following safety guidelines.
  5. Engage in gowning and gloving procedures in a perioperative setting.
  6. Support healthcare professionals with skin preparation and draping patients for surgery.
  7. Anticipate the surgeon's instrument needs and provide necessary supplies during surgery.
  8. Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments throughout the procedure.
  9. Ensure surgical asepsis during all procedures according to guidelines.
  10. Prepare and apply dressings to incision sites; prepare suture materials as directed.
  11. Assist with patient transfer to recovery and provide nursing care as necessary.
  12. Handle specimens properly for laboratory analysis.
  13. Participate in cleaning the operating room and replenishing supplies post-procedure.
  14. Operate sterilizers, lights, suction machines, and electrosurgical units as needed.
  15. Engage in staff development activities and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  1. Hold and maintain a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
  2. Completion of a relevant training program for Surgical Technologists in the military or federal service with pertinent experience.
  3. Strong attention to detail, ability to remain calm under pressure, and effective communication skills.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively within a surgical team and follow safety and procedural guidelines.
  5. Commitment to ongoing professional development, including 15 hours of continuing education annually.
