Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology or OR Technician program is preferred.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred, or eligibility to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, and proper instrument setup.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients for procedures.
• Maintain aseptic technique and a sterile field throughout surgeries.
• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and staff as directed.
• Count instruments, sponges, and sharps before, during, and after procedures.
• Handle, label, and process surgical specimens per protocol.
• Assist with room turnover and post-procedure cleanup.
• Adhere to safety, infection control, and regulatory policies.
• Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and quality initiatives.
