Job summary

Baystate Medical Center's Main Operating Room in Springfield, MA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join a fast-paced, collaborative team. The role supports a wide range of inpatient and outpatient procedures and involves assisting surgeons, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring patient safety.

The schedule includes 4 - 10 hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Qualified candidates typically hold an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology, AST certification where required,

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology.
• AST certification when required.
• CPR – American Heart Association BLS.
• New hires may require certification if no prior surgical facility experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support surgeons during invasive procedures.
• Maintain sterile field and aseptic technique throughout operations.
• Prepare and handle instruments, supplies, and equipment per policy.
• Ensure accurate documentation within scope of practice.
• Support diverse surgical specialties, including minimally invasive and diagnostic cases.
• Collaborate with the operating team to optimize patient safety and outcomes.
