Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to ensure availability of equipment and supplies for endoscopy and surgical procedures. You will scrub for procedures, assist during endoscopy, and support the RN with duties as assigned.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program (or 5 years of experience) and BLS certification. Knowledge of sterile technique and strong communication skills are essential for care teamwork.

Qualifications

• Education: graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program or 5 years of experience.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; certification in surgical technology preferred.
• KSAs include sterile technique, anatomy knowledge, surgery procedures, and use of computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties.
• Organizes activities and supplies based on surgery schedule and daily needs of the department.
• Cares for patients under supervision and communicates care needs to staff.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, skills, and credentials.
• Adapts to changes in the department due to census or acuity.
• Performs other related duties as required.
