Job summary

Shields Health Solutions is seeking a Surgical Technologist to prepare the OR, assemble instruments, and maintain sterile technique. The role emphasizes anticipation of surgeon needs, instrument handling, and maintaining patient safety throughout procedures.

Position is 32 hours with full-time and per diem opportunities. Eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus, no holidays/nights/on-call, and free parking on-site. Day-time hours with opportunities for career growth in ambulatory surgery settings.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent is required.
• Certification (CST) required within 1 year of program completion.
• Massachusetts experience prior to July 2013.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a positive organizational culture.
• Attend staff and department meetings and in-services.
• Prepare and check case carts and instrument pans for procedures.
• Anticipate and request special equipment and supplies as needed.
• Ensure safe functioning of instruments and equipment.
• Maintain sterile field and handle medications with the circulator RN.
• Perform instrument counts and prepare specimens for transfer.
• Assist with OR flow and setup for cases.
• Support departmental staffing needs and collaborate with caregivers.
