Job summary

Shields Health Care Group in Medford, MA, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to prepare the operating room, sterilize equipment, and assist surgeons during procedures. Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent.
• Certification (CST) within 1 year of program completion.
• Mass experience prior to July 2013.
• Minimum of one year work experience as a surgical technician.
• Experience in Ambulatory Surgery or Outpatient Surgery preferred.
• Experience scrubbing in on variety of cases (orthopedic, plastics, general, and urology) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively promotes a positive organizational culture.
• Selects and checks case carts, packs, and sterile supplies for procedures.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments during procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique and safe patient environment.
• Prepares and hands off specimens to the circulating nurse with accuracy.
• Performs instrument decontamination and terminal sterilization prep as needed.
• Assists with OR flow and equipment maintenance as required.
