Job summary

AdventHealth in Lenexa, KS is seeking a part-time Surgical Technician to support the operating room. You will scrub, gown, and glove for procedures, set up sterile fields, and assist the surgical team throughout operations, ensuring strict sterile technique and patient safety.

Required qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent, vocational training, BLS certification, and 2+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical/Vocational School training required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• 2+ years as certified surgical tech preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) preferred OR ABSA Surgical Assistant - Certified (SA-C) required.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Helps in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
