Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist to assist surgeons and support patient care during operative procedures. The role covers ages from neonates to geriatrics and involves coordination with multidisciplinary teams within a hospital surgical unit.

Responsibilities include aseptic setup, instrument handling, specimen processing, and adherence to universal precautions. Certification as CST is required unless exempt under PA Act 80. Minimum 1 year preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from Specialty Training Program (Required).
• Current CST certification required unless PA Act 80 exemption applies.
• Minimum 1 year related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon with procedures for patients of all ages during surgery.
• Coordinate treatments with other disciplines and provide basic patient assistance.
• Prepare for surgery by scrubbing, gowning, gloving, draping and instrument setup.
• Handle specimens, ensure accurate counts of sponges, needles and instruments.
• Maintain universal precautions and aseptic technique throughout the procedure.
• Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to OR briefing and safety checks.
• Support admission, discharge, and appropriate billing for services rendered.
