Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. in Tucson, AZ seeks a Surgical Technician to support the surgical team in the operating room. You will prepare sterile fields, pass instruments, assist with procedures, and help ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes through strict adherence to infection control and aseptic technique.

Hours are 6:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with no nights, weekends or on‑call. This role requires a Technical School or Associate Degree in Surgical Technology, 0–2 years OR

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgical cases; ensure equipment and supplies are organized.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure sterilization, inspection and assembly of instruments.
• Perform counts with circulating nurse to ensure patient safety.
• Assist in patient positioning, draping and transfers.
• Maintain physician preference cards and ensure supplies are available.
• Sterilize and reprocess instruments following protocols; restock but keep rooms ready for next cases.
• Adhere to infection control standards and facility policies.
