Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the Operating Room team. The role involves providing surgical instruments to the team, maintaining sterile technique, and coordinating patient care with colleagues.

You will help prepare and troubleshoot instruments, ensuring patient safety and efficient case flow. Candidates should have a high-school diploma or GED and enrollment or completion of a Surgical Technologist Program; English proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• High-School Diploma or GED required; completion or enrollment in Surgical Technologist Program per NBST.
• 1+ years of surgical technology experience preferred.
• Must understand English (written and spoken) and perform job duties safely with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with surgeons and OR team to anticipate needs for smooth procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure team compliance for safety.
• Prepare and troubleshoot instruments and equipment to keep the team focused on patient care.
• Support daily workflow with room turnover and case setup for next day’s schedule.
• Build strong communication with physicians, circulators, and other OR staff.
• Manage instruments and supplies to keep cases organized and efficient.
• Apply technical expertise across multiple surgical specialties.
• Evaluate new equipment and tools to improve patient care.
• Contribute to a surgical environment prioritizing safety, efficiency, and quality.
