Responsibilities

Certified Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities

• The Surgical Technologist is a member of the healthcare team who provides technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of an RN, according to accepted clinical standards of care.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure a sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or completion of a military or hospital‑based training program with 5 years acute care surgical tech experience.
• Surgical tech certification from NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
