Qualifications

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program or equivalent 5 years acute care experience.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Perform technical support in the perioperative period under RN supervision.
• Prepare equipment and patients for surgical procedures.
• Assist with inventory of sterile supplies.

Position Description: Certified Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities

• The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Requirements

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
