Job summary

North Carolina Specialty Hospital in Durham, NC is hiring a Surgical Technologist for a full-time role with a $7,500 sign-on bonus. Under supervision, assists in surgical procedures, follows aseptic techniques, and prepares the operating room with instruments and equipment.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited school of surgical technology or the equivalent in clinical surgery training/ experience.
• BLS certification through an accredited AHA or ARC program; Certified Surgical Technician preferred.
• Effective communication skills; both orally and written.
• Strong critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub activities based on aseptic technique and safety guidelines, anticipates needs of patient and surgeon.
• Prepares and knows uses of equipment, instrumentation and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Locates and operates equipment; reports malfunctions promptly.
• Independently prepares the sterile field for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients during intra-operative care.
• Maintains complete and updated preference cards and clinical information systems for efficiency.
• Adheres to hospital policies, confidentiality, and patient safety standards.
• Demonstrates teamwork and respectful communication with colleagues.
• Utilizes age/developmental considerations when interacting with patients and families.

Education

Completion of an accredited school of surgical technology or the equivalent in clinical surgery training/experience

BLS certification through an accredited program; Certified Surgical Technician preferred
