Responsibilities

• Serve as the first scrub during procedures.
• Anticipate instrumentation needs for surgeries.
• Educate new and experienced staff in the scrub role.
• Demonstrates aseptic and surgical techniques.
• Precepts new and experienced staff in scrub role.
• Operates and evaluates powered instrumentation, video equipment, and complex tools.

Surgical Technologist 2 Job Responsibilities

• Demonstrates advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the first scrub.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of anatomy and can anticipate the required instrumentation for each step of a surgical procedure.
• Expedites the operative procedure by anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques.
• Performs in preceptor role for new & experienced staff in the scrub role.
• Provides working knowledge of powered instrumentation, video equipment, microscopes, and complex instrumentation, equipment. Assists in the evaluation of new products and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED
• Experience: One (1) year surgical technologist experience.
• Licensure: Registered Surgical Technologist in the state of VA.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.

Preferred Experience

• Eye experience
• 10‑hr shifts (will consider 8 or 10 hr shifts).
