Job summary

Inova Health is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist to join the Operating Room team at Inova Fairfax Hospital. This full-time position offers varied shifts with a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association required upon start.
• Registered Surgical Technologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia required upon start.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, passing instruments, sutures, and other items during procedures.
• Demonstrates ability to perform the role of first scrub on basic surgical cases.
• Selects proper sterilization method of instruments/equipment and ensures sterility.
• Applies aseptic technique principles.
• Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on procedure and surgeon preference.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• The Surgical Technologist 1 demonstrates knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, which includes passing instruments, sutures, and other items appropriate to the procedure.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform the role of the first scrub on all basic surgical cases.
• Selects proper sterilization method of instruments/equipment; sterilizes before procedures, as necessary, and verifies instruments as sterile.
• Demonstrates the application of the principles of aseptic technique.
• Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on the scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent
• Certification: Basic Life Support from American Heart Association required upon start.
• License: Registered Surgical Technologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Surgical Technologist required upon start

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: Level one (1) trauma experience.
