Job summary

Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY, seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to support the Surgery department on a per diem/PRN basis with weekend requirements and a 7:00 am–3:30 pm schedule.

Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, passing instruments, maintaining sterile technique, handling specimens, and assisting with wound care and drainage systems, while ensuring patient safety and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required upon hire.
• CST certification required within 90 days of employment.
• TS-C certification required within 90 days of employment.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of employment.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
• Maintains sterile field and provides continuous surveillance.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery.
• Counts and tracks instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives specimens for testing.
• Assists with wound dressings and drainage systems.
• Provides visualization, retraction, suctioning and irrigation as needed.

Job Summary:

Provides assistance to physician and facilitates in procedural areas which includes invasive and non-invasive techniques.

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
• Provides continuous surveillance and maintenance of sterile field.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery.
• Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives specimens for delivery for appropriate testing.
• Assists with application of wound dressings and securing of drainage system.
• Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.

  • TS-C - Tech in Surgery-Certified through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required within 90 days of employment in this position AND
  • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
