Job summary

Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join the Surgery department on a full-time basis. The role supports physicians in both invasive and non-invasive procedures, ensuring sterile technique and efficient instrument handling.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, NBSTSA CST certification within 90 days, NCCT TS-C certification within 90 days, and BLS within 90 days. Weekend requirements and 80 hours per pay period are noted.

Job Summary:

Provides assistance to physician and facilitates in procedural areas which includes invasive and non-invasive techniques.

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
• Provides continuous surveillance and maintenance of sterile field.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery.
• Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives specimens for delivery for appropriate testing.
• Assists with application of wound dressings and securing of drainage system.
• Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
• Must serve on one of the three specialty teams.

Position Requirements:

Education High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within 90 days of employment in this position
• TS-C - Tech in Surgery-Certified through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required within 90 days of employment in this position
• BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
