Job summary

Astria Health is seeking a Surgical Technician at Astria Sunnyside Hospital in the Operating/Surgery Department. The position is a full-time, day-shift role with responsibilities in assisting during operations and maintaining sterile conditions.

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or current student is required, along with State registration or LPN license and BLS. English fluency is mandatory; this safety-sensitive role includes a background check and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program or currently enrolled student.
  • Current Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration or Licensed Practical Nurse License.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Oral and written fluency in the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Set up instruments and equipment for procedures and ensure inventory is complete.
  • Prepare the patient for surgery and assist the Surgeon with sterile instruments and supplies throughout the operation.
  • Take a count of all surgical instruments and supplies prior to and after the operation and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Maintain an overall sterile environment throughout the surgery.
  • Act as a resource regarding workflow, policies and procedures, and train staff where needed.
  • Order, maintain, and track equipment and supplies for the Surgical Services Department.
  • Performs scheduling duties to maximize the Operating Room schedule.

Astria Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join our team! This position is located at our Astria Sunnyside Hospital in our Operating/Surgery Department.
Shift: 8 hour day shift, More information will be provided during the interview.
What you get to do every day!

As the Surgical Technician, you will be responsible for responsible for assisting with surgical procedures in an operating room. You will:

  • Setting up the instruments and equipment that is required for the procedure, and ensure inventory is complete to meet the needs of the surgery.
  • Preparing the patient for surgery and assisting the Surgeon with required sterile instruments and supplies throughout the operation.
  • Taking a count of all surgical instruments and supplies prior to the operation, reconciling instruments and supplies at the end of the operation.
  • Maintaining an overall sterile environment throughout the surgery.
  • Acts as a resource regarding workflow, policies and procedures, training new and existing staff, and assists in evaluating staff efficiencies and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Orders, maintains, and tracks equipment and supplies for the Surgical Services Department, working closely with vendors, providers, materials management, biomed, and management.
  • Performs scheduling duties to maximize the Operating Room schedule.
  • May participate in committeemeetings and meetings with management as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate effectively across organizational boundaries.
  • Adheres to the core values and standards of the organization.
Requirements
  • Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program or a current student in academic good standing
  • Current Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration or Licensed Practical Nurse License
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Oral and written fluency in the English language.
Preferred Qualifications and Education
  • One year of experiencing managing teams of five or more
