Job summary

Saint Mary's Regional Health System in Russellville, AR is seeking a Surgical Technician for a full-time role on a Monday–Friday schedule, with no weekends or holidays unless on call. 1 year of surgical tech experience is required for external candidates, with BCLS preferred.

The team emphasizes patient-centered care and teamwork, supporting high-quality perioperative services and staff development across a diverse care network.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; CST program preferred.
• At least 1 year of surgical technician experience for external candidates.
• Certifications: BCLS preferred; not required for all applicants.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensure proper function of equipment and instruments.
• Assist with patient positioning, draping and transport.
• Pass instruments to physician during surgery.
• Maintain instrument and supply counts throughout procedures.
• Receive and process specimens for lab delivery.
• Provide on-call services as requested.
• Support room turnovers for efficient scheduling.
• Coordinate with RNs and management to meet patient needs.
• Assist with orientation and training of staff and students.

How you'll contribute:

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery.
• Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• Performs on call services as requested.
• Actively participates and ensures room turnovers are efficient and timely.
• Assesses surgical schedule in coordination with RN's and management to ensure patient needs are met and all necessary equipment/ supplies are available.
• Assist with orientation and training of personnel and students.
• Participates and attends meetings as required and/ or assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

What we're looking for:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Certified Surgical Technology Program

Minimum Work Experience:

External candidate - 3 years as a Surgical Technician and service line sign off within 1 year
Internal candidate - 1 year as a Surgical technician and service line sign off

Certifications: None required; BCLS preferred.
