Job summary

WakeMed Health & Hospitals is hiring a Surgical Technician I for the Labor and Delivery department. The role supports the surgical team under supervision, ensuring a safe operating room environment and proper instrument handling.

The ideal candidate will have Graduate Surgical Technology or an Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology; military equivalents are acceptable. Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred; no prior experience is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate Surgical Technology or an Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology, or military equivalent.
• Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
• No previous experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surgical procedures in the operating room to ensure patient safety.
• Maintain sterile environment and equipment functionality.
• Support labor and delivery team with triage and instrument care.
• Assist with breakdown and instrument care in the Labor and Delivery deck area.

Overview

The Surgical Technician, Labor and Delivery I is an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical and patient care. Functions under the supervision of a surgeon or registered nurse to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Assists with patients in triage. Assists with the breakdown, and instrument care in the Labor and Delivery deck area.
