• Graduate of an approved Surgical First Assistant program with surgical rotation experience.
• Current certification with 350 cases completed and BLS certification.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Surgical Technologist First Assist

Our Surgical Service teams are committed and caring. We focus on creating positive patient interactions. As a Surgical Tech First Assist, you will work directly with surgeons in the operating room, assisting during procedures. If you are passionate about caring for others, this could be your next opportunity.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Assisting before, during, and after surgeries by providing retraction, tissue manipulation, hemostasis, and other functions for optimal surgical visualization and outcomes.
• Performing ligation, tissue approximation, clamp application, and electrocautery.
• Preparing patients, positioning, and applying casts, immobilizers, or tourniquets.
• Applying dressings and drainage, and assisting in wound closure.
• Supporting the RN with technical functions related to patient care in the OR.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Surgical First Assistant program, medical school, or an allied health professional with 2,250 hours of surgical rotation.
• Current certification as a Surgical Assistant, with at least 350 cases completed and 2 years of experience within the last 4 years.
• BLS certification approved by the American Heart Association.
• Ability to lift 100 pounds and routinely carry 50 pounds.
